5 ways to attract visitors to your exhibition stand

Thinking of exhibiting at an event? We understand that it can be a daunting feeling – whether you’re exhibiting to like-minded business people, potential clients or even students, trying to engage an audience in what you have to offer can be a challenge within itself. So, what are the tips and tricks of being able to create an interesting exhibition stand and how can you intrigue people to come over and find out more? Here we reveal our top 5…

  • Get Creative

An interactive and visual stand provides a spectacular point of interest to all audiences. Whether you’re going colourful, technological or experimenting with music or lighting, it provides a lot more interest than a corporate banner stand and a few leaflets. Think about signage or games, what would the event attendees want to interact with at an exhibition stand?

  • Be Welcoming

It’s important that you are bringing the right employees to exhibit with you at the event, whether they are young and enthusiastic or older with years of experience and a vast knowledge in their field – interesting exhibitors make for an interesting stand. Exhibitors that are warm, welcoming and friendly will happily stand up and speak to people as they pass or approach the stand, there is nothing worse than exhibitors that sit idly at their stand with no attempt to converse with the attendees of the event.

  • Refresh and Rejuvenate

Events can easily mean a full-day away from the office, but it’s not necessarily a walk in the park, exhibiting can be stressful and tiring if you include the travel, set up and hours spent standing and trying to gain attendee interest. Equally, for the attendees it can take a good while to walk around and look at relevant industries or stands of particular interest. That’s why it’s a great idea to have refreshments at your stand – providing a moment of rejuvenation for yourself and the attendees, this also gives you an opportunity to talk to them. Sweets, snacks, fruit, bottles of water or tea/coffee will be greatly appreciated all round, depending on the size of the stand, overall event and the availability for snacks/drinks elsewhere on the premises.

  • Giveaways and Competitions

Exhibiting at events is a great opportunity to get your business some branded merchandise, if you haven’t got any already. Freebies are a great way to entice people to the stand and find out more about what the company is about. Competitions are also a great way to spark interest and help you gather some valuable marketing contacts. Competition giveaways can come at a relatively expensive cost, so this is worth bearing in mind in the run up to the event, with consideration into a reasonable giveaway.

  • Promotion is everything!

It’s essential that you promote your presence at the event prior to the day, whether you promote on social media or send emails to current customers to let them know you’ll be there. Try tagging in the managing organisations of the event so that attendees and other businesses can make a clear connection that you will be exhibiting at the event. Don’t forget to post a picture of your stand on the day and remind people where they can find you!
